Occasionally we get a flock of cattle egret that visit our yard in search of tasty treats, tasty to an egret that is. In this photo they decided to descend upon and around our magnolia tree. The cattle egret is much smaller than its impressive cousin the large Snowy Egret, but they are still a very attractive bird and always catch my attention.
Somehow I doubt that "An Egret in a Magnolia Tree" will ever replace "A Partridge in a Pear Tree".
BTW - I've been trying to figure out how one can re-post old posts on Blogger. Has anyone done this? And if so how do you do it? I would love to know. :)
Find the blog post in your list of posts. Then on the right side of the edit screen, you'll see it says, "Published on..." with the date and time. click on that and a calendar will pop up and then I guess just select the new date/time you wanna use and click 'done' then on the orange button that says 'update'. I'm almost sure that's how to do it.
ReplyDeleteThanks JoJo - I know I tried that once in the past and it didn't work, blogger disregarded the new date and did not re-post it. But it may have been one of Bloggers bad days, I'll have to try it again and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd just copy and paste, with a little note beforehand saying I was reposting?
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have such elegant creatures visiting your tree. We always put seed out for the birds and get a lot. My favorite are the little yellow finches that come in droves. Sometimes the hanging sock type feeder is so covered you can't even see the feeder!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love the bird sitting on the top of the tree, great shot.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I know how to re-post an old post is to go to your post dashboard open and the post you want to copy.Click the HTML button and copy everything. Open a new post click the HTML button and hit paste. Click on the compose button and the entire post should be there, photos and all.
If you have any questions, let me know.

Great pictures, Anna. I love the profile of the egret on the top of the tree.
ReplyDeleteI've tried re-posting and it hasn't worked. I would like to know how too.
Cool photos. I've heard of egrets, but I don't think we have them in Iowa. (they're always a cross word answer though...lol!)
ReplyDeleteWell, it would be a bit of a mouthful, but it could still work lol! These birds are just lovely -- we used to have so many of them here (we'd call them herons), but sadly, with all the horrible construction encroaching, they've left. Thank you so much for stopping by, and your kind, kind words :)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I had to do some research to grasp the meaning of the last sentence but now I'm a bit more educated :) It is so exotic (from my point of view) to have these birds around and oh, my, what gorgeous surroundings!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Time does have a way of flying by way too fast doesn't it? EEk, speaking of which its already 9:15 here...gotta get to work! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is very cool to have Egrets in your Mag. Tree, we just get squirrels :)
ReplyDeleteWould love to see how big the Magnolia is now :)
Have a lovely weekend, cheers, T. :)
Anna what an amazing sight :) Like Bairozan, I had to do a little research too. Blogging is knowledge as well ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you found the photos. They're so pretty. Big birds fascinate me I can't imagine seeing them in my yard, though.
