Thank God - Wrinkles Don't Hurt

We're getting older, my sisters and I.  Our conversations often turn to this fact, we discuss how, when exercising, we sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies with joints snapping, crackling and popping.  We compare the amount of gray in our hair the wrinkles at the corner of our eyes, the once firm flesh that is now like a bowl of jiggling JELL-O.   We reminisce about our once slender waistlines and how they've have gotten wider, chuckle about how the sand in our hour-glass shapes have shifted  and we concur that, as Winston Churchill once said,  getting older is not for wimps.

In a recent phone conversation with my youngest sister, I mentioned that bright light was very unflattering to me and that I looked better in soft light.  At night, as I prepare for bed, I turn on a low wattage light in my bathroom, I found that in this dim light I look at least 10 years younger.  I told my sister that the dimmer the light, the better I look and if I turn out the light completely I look absolutely gorgeous.

True, getting old is not easy, but laughing about it makes it a little more bearable and, thankfully, wrinkles don't hurt.

  1. I wish I couldn't relate, but we've changed out the 100-watt light bulbs for 20-watt ones years ago. ;)

Anna the only way we can deal with gravity is with Brevity :)

Or just lie down, lol :)

Hope you have a lovely weekend, cheers, T. :)

  5. Hi ... judging from the pic from your younger days, I bet you are gorgeous. And my response to myself when I think I'm getting older it that it beats the alternative.
PS. I still enjoy wearing the blue/red beaded necklace with the O stone ring. One of my favorite pieces.

  7. Lol! Cute post. I totally agree - one can only laugh about it. It's just a part of life and I think if we embrace it and grow older gracefully with some humor, our hearts stay younger for it! :-)

  8. It is so funny you mentioned this... I was just talking to my dad about my own aging...and him telling me surprised he always thinks of me as a kid. I feel I am at the cusp, having now to decide whether I will embrace my aging process or turn my face into something that resembles a duck.

  9. Yes I totally agree soft light is much more flattering but friends and laughter make us all beautiful!

  11. Thank you for the laugh. I just spent the weekend with my sister and we spent the whole weekend talking about the same thing :) I love the idea of using a softer light bulb, I think I am going to have to do some shopping this weekend so I can get some of those light bulbs for my whole house :D

  12. We can't stop that but we can enjoy a positive attitude, right? At least our wrinkles will be caused by laughter :)

  13. I started thinking about that too, about the aging of my body... And trying to decide if I will embrace or erase it ;-)
